What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts, which is based upon the principle that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system. Your nervous system controls and co-ordinates all the functions of the body. Should there be any type of interference with the body's ability to perform those functions, the body is in a state of "dis-ease".

Chiropractic physicians work with the nerves, muscles and joints of the body, primarily the spine, to relieve pain and allow the nervous system to work and function at an improved level. As the largest drugless healthcare profession in the world, chiropractic has been proven to also be one of the safest. They are highly trained at graduate schools that are sanctioned by the government, then licensed by individual states to ensure the highest levels of competency. Chiropractic physicians may use a variety of methods and techniques, predominantly manipulation, to help you regain improved health. Dietary changes, exercises, stretching, traction, ultrasound, TENS and other means, to help facilitate your recovery and maintain good health.

Striving to get to the cause, rather than just treating a symptom, is the main focus of chiropractic care. Careful analysis, evaluation and diagnosis of your condition is made prior to treatment commencing. X-Ray, MRI, CT scans and other diagnostic means may be used to help isolate and identify the underlying cause of your problem. A series of treatments are performed to help reduce pain levels and gradually improve your ability to function better. Most patients after completing their treatment regimen, choose to receive periodic preventative care.
